SECOND TEAM
Andrew Ripper & team BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research
The three-member BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research team piloted by Andrew Ripper vaults from runner-up to second place. The trio wins praise for providing what one fund manager describes as “value-added information on the testing, inspection and certification industry and its key players.” The analysts told clients to buy Aggreko in November 2009, at 786p, on the expectation that the Scotland-based generator-rental company would enjoy strong growth in emerging markets. In September, after the stock had skyrocketed 95.8 percent, to 1,539p, they downgraded it to hold, on valuation. Aggreko’s shares ended the year at 1,482p.
