Patrick Standaert, Adam Wood & team Morgan Stanley

Morgan Stanley jumps from runner-up, where it spent the past three years, to second place under the direction of Patrick Standaert and new co-leader Adam Wood, who joined the firm from Exane BNP Paribas in July (and led that firm’s runner-up team last year). The analysts on the three-member team “work together exquisitely,” notes one hedge fund manager. Way back in June 2009, the team advised investors to buy Misys, dubbing the stock a bargain at 167.25p. By year-end 2010 shares of the London-based developer of software for the financial services and health care industries had catapulted 105.1 percent, to 343p.
