David Risinger Morgan Stanley
In second place is David Risinger, who held the top spot in 2007 and 2008 but didn’t rank last year, having moved to Morgan Stanley from BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research in the spring of 2009. Risinger is “one of the last of the real contrarians,” insists one longtime client. He proved that in July 2009 when he warned that, with the economy faltering and health care reform looming, the sector would most likely underperform or at best track the broad market; it would not outperform. He was right: The sector lagged the Standard & Poor’s 500 index by 1.9 percentage points through August 2010.
