Moshe Orenbuch Credit Suisse
Climbing one rung to second place, after two years in third, is Moshe Orenbuch of Credit Suisse. “His background as an accountant gives him an excellent take on the numbers,” observes one devotee. Orenbuch downgraded AmeriCredit Corp. from neutral to underperform in April, judging it overvalued at $25.96. That was one week and 21 cents from its peak. The very day of his downgrade, the Fort Worth, Texas–based auto lender posted disappointing earnings, and the shares plunged to $18.22 in June. They had rallied to $24.20 by the end of August, for a decline of 6.8 percent. They didn’t underperform, however; the sector lost 13.4 percent.
