Bhuvnesh Singh, who works out of Singapore, takes the top spot for Credit Suisse; he is also No. 1 in Information Technology. The 35-year-old analyst impressed clients with a July 2010 upgrade of Bharti Airtel from neutral to outperform, at 275.33 rupees, on the New Delhi–based wireless and wireline telecommunications services provider’s growing customer base domestically and in Africa. The company reported that total revenues for the 12 months through March 2011 jumped 42.1 percent, to Rs594.67 billion ($12.9 billion); by the end of May, the stock had bolted 35.9 percent, to Rs374.15, and outpaced the sector by a remarkable 87.6 percentage points. “He called the turnaround,” cheers one backer. Singh moved to Credit Suisse from Morgan Stanley in 1999 after earning a postgraduate diploma in management from the Indian Institute of Management in Calcutta.
