Bhuvnesh Singh, who works out of Singapore, takes the top spot for Credit Suisse; he is also No. 1 in ­Information Technology. The 35-year-old analyst impressed clients with a July 2010 upgrade of Bharti ­Airtel from neutral to outperform, at 275.33 rupees, on the New Delhi–based wireless and wireline telecommunications ­ser­vices provider’s growing customer base domestically and in Africa. The company reported that total revenues for the 12 months through March 2011 jumped 42.1 percent, to Rs594.67 billion ($12.9 billion); by the end of May, the stock had bolted 35.9 percent, to Rs374.15, and outpaced the sector by a remarkable 87.6 percentage points. “He called the turnaround,” cheers one backer. Singh moved to Credit Suisse from Morgan Stanley in 1999 after earning a postgraduate diploma in management from the Indian ­Institute of Management in ­Calcutta.
