THIRD TEAM
Jonathan Leinster UBS
Jonathan Leinster is No. 3 for a third consecutive year. The UBS analyst is a “steely-eyed realist who is not fooled by management’s spin,” according to one portfolio manager. In March, in a contrarian call, Leinster advised investors to dump their shares of Imperial Tobacco Group of Bristol, England, at 2,154p, because he believed consensus earnings estimates were too high and the market would react negatively to the departure of CEO Gareth Davis, who was retiring. In April, after the stock had tumbled 9.3 percent, to 1,953p, he upgraded it to neutral, on valuation. It ended the year at 1,968p.
