John Deere Foundation has granted $2.5 million to Opportunity International. Opportunity International is a non-profit microfinance organization offering access to savings accounts, small business loans, training and insurance products to people in sub-Saharan Africa.

The company helps create a sustainable framework for increased food security. The funding is expected to be used by the company to expand access to financial services for farmers and other entrepreneurs in Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda and Uganda.
