THIRD TEAM

Gordon Lee & team  UBS

Gordon Lee has led top-ranked teams seven out of the past eight years; this year his UBS threesome drops to third place, but Lee, who works out of New York, is still “the Rolls-Royce of Latin American equity analysts,” in the eyes of one money manager. The researchers upgraded the American depositary receipts of Cemex from sell to neutral in September 2010, at $8.36, after shares of the Monterrey, Mexico–based building-materials giant had tumbled nearly 36 percent in the preceding 12 months. By January the ADRs had shot up 31.2 percent, to $10.97, but then they started to slip; they closed July at $7.04. “Gordon’s proprietary research is both thorough and thoughtful,” observes another buy-side backer.
