Richard Burden, Paul Lloyd & team Credit Suisse

The six-strong Credit Suisse squad rises from runner-up to third place, this year under the guidance of Richard Burden and new co-leader Paul Lloyd. The analysts win praise for being “very analytical, and they can explain rather complicated ideas in a simple way,” according to one buy-side backer. The team reiterated its sell rating on Assicurazioni Generali in January 2010, at €17.41, in part because of the Italian firm’s weak capital position and its sovereign-debt exposure to Southern Europe. By late December the insurer’s share price had tumbled 18.4 percent, to €14.21.
