Man Chuen (Benjamin) Lo  J.P. Morgan

Man Chuen (Benjamin) Lo, who claimed second-place honors last year as an analyst with Nomura, moved to J.P. Morgan last summer and this year lands at No. 3. Soon after establishing himself at his new firm, in August, Lo initiated coverage on Hutchison Whampoa with a valuation-based recommendation to overweight shares of the Hong Kong–based infrastructure and property developer. The stock had significantly underperformed the broad market over the past five years but, Lo argued, investors were about to rediscover the underlying value of the company’s established businesses — particularly retail and ports — which, he opined, have been “enjoying strong growth profiles.” The stock zoomed 46.9 percent, from HK$60.45 to HK$88.80, beating the sector by 51.5 percentage points and the broad market by 35.8 points, through April. Lo “is someone I can always count on for insightful and comprehensive analysis,” insists one advocate.
