In third place for a second year running is the Deutsche Bank Securities duo directed by Esteban Polidura in Mexico City. “Esteban is one of the few analysts who is always looking to provide more value, through company meetings or timely advice and updates,” says one grateful fund manager in Santiago. The team reports on 25 stocks and plans to add four names later this year. In May the researchers downgraded Empresas ICA from buy to hold, at 25.76 pesos, after several reductions to the company’s credit rating. Shares of the Mexico-based commercial and residential construction company slid to 21.20 pesos in June before starting to regain lost ground. In mid-July they were trading at 24.70 pesos, but the analysts remain cautious. — Ben Mattlin
