Rocketing from runner-up to finish on top for the first time is the Itaú BBA duo directed by Renata Faber; the São Paulo–based analyst also helms the No. 3 team in Transportation. Praised for their “close monitoring and informative channel checks,” as one money manager puts it, the analysts track seven stocks. In December they raised Randon to top pick, at 11.70 reais, largely on the Brazil-based auto-parts supplier’s exposure to a likely rebound in Brazilian trucking. The shares raced to 13.60 reais in May before slipping into reverse. By mid-July they had settled back to 11.60 reais, but the analysts remain bullish on the company’s long-term prospects. Faber, 33, joined Itaú in 2005 after five years as a small-caps analyst at Fator Corretora. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration at São Paulo’s Fundação Getulio Vargas. — Ben Mattlin
