Newcomer Frederick Grieb shepherds the Credit Suisse team to third place, its first appearance in the ranking since 2008. The two-analyst team upgraded Temenos in August from neutral to overweight, at Sf27.40, on the strength of the brisk pace with which the Geneva-based banking-software developer was picking up new clients and expanding operations. Indeed, about a week after the upgrade, Temenos announced a partnership agreement in which CSC, a U.S.-based information-technology services provider, would help market its products to banks in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. By late December, Temenos shares had surged 42 percent, to Sf38.90, and were ahead of the sector by 35 percentage points. The Credit Suisse analysts provide “indispensable perspective on these companies as part of a global marketplace,” cheers one portfolio manager.
