Unranked last year, the UBS foursome co-led by Quentin Freeman and Kim Wright finishes third. The group recommended Land Securities Group in July, at 539.49p, on the belief that the market was too concerned with short-term risks and failed to see that the London-based real estate investment trust showed significant upside potential. The stock had advanced 24.9 percent, to 674p, by the end of December. “Their call-it-as-I-see-it and take-no-prisoners approach to research is admirable and makes my role as a wholesale institutional investor that much easier,” observes one appreciative money manager.
