State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) is planning a series of ETFs in Europe to boost its position in the region, Financial News reports. SSgA, which is ranked the 17th largest provider in Europe with assets totaling $1 billion, did not disclose the products it will launch in Europe or the size of the team it is building.
It has appointed former global head of ETF products for NYSE Euronext, Scott Ebner, to develop a global presence. SSgA’s products are backed by direct ownership of stocks, although the usage of collateral for certain small cap stocks is preferred by the firm.
