CME Group will increase the amount of physical gold it can accept from its clearing members as collateral, Reuters reports. The futures exchange operator will raise the amount of bullion its customers can post as collateral to $500 million from $200 million. The move will enable market participants to better manage their risk and to take advantage of lower gold lease rates. Investors will be able to use physical gold instead of just cash to meet margin requirements of other market products.
