Global regulators are said to have reached an agreement with the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision regarding capital requirements for systemically important banks. Sources said the Basel Committee has settled on a sliding scale for additional capital based on a bank’s size and involvement with other financial institutions, among other things. In addition, sources said regulators will not create a fixed list of such banks but will re-evaluate institutions on a regular basis to determine their systemic importance.
