Private equity real estate funds raised $11.2 billion in the second quarter of 2011, as per research firm Preqin, Reuters reports. The funds raised $8.9 billion in the first quarter of 2011 and $7.1 billion in the fourth quarter of 2010.
The Lone Star Real Estate Fund II gained $5.5 billion at final close, the Och-Ziff Real Estate Fund II raised $840 million and the Pramerica Real Estate Capital I raised $786.5 million. Ten funds focusing on the North American market raised commitments of $8.6 billion, while three Europe-focused funds gained $1.2 billion and five Asia and rest of world-focused funds raised $1.4 billion.
