BNP Paribas may consider increasing its stake in brokerage joint venture, Geojit BNP Paribas Financial Services, Economic Times reports. The options available to the French bank include new issue of shares, buying from the secondary market or buying from Indian promoters and investors. Currently, BNP holds a 34% stake in the Indian venture, which it bought in 2007. CJ George, managing director of Geojit BNP Paribas, owns a 20% interest in the firm. Geojit BNP Financial has about $2.9 billion in assets under management.
