The federal government has switched views and now supports requiring the Federal Reserve to release details of financial institutions receiving emergency loans in 2008. The Clearing House Association has lost its bid in both federal court and the federal appellate court to stop the release, which it says would hurt numerous agency programs that currently assure third parties that details of transactions would remain confidential. Until now, the federal government has sided with the CHA, but as the case comes before the U.S. Supreme Court, the administration is urging the justices to reject the appeal.
