The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) reported a 12.5% net return on investments for the 2010 calendar year. Total fund assets ended 2010 at $225.7 billion. CalPERS’ private equity program, the Alternative Investment Management Program, was the highest gainer among asset classes in 2010, with a 21.5% overall return. Global equity investments returned 14.6% last year, while domestic stocks gained 17.3% and international stocks returned 12.8%.
