THIRD TEAM
Timothy Arcuri Citi
San Francisco–based Timothy Arcuri takes third-team honors for a second year running. The Citi analyst “keeps a laser focus on the issues,” according to one buy-side enthusiast. Arcuri downgraded Plainview, New York’s Veeco Instruments, whose products include high-brightness light-emitting diodes and solar panels, from buy to hold in December, at $48.43; Arcuri theorized that tighter credit in China would cause orders from that country, a major buyer, to plummet. Veeco shares tumbled 24.9 percent, to $36.36, and trailed the Standard & Poor’s 500 semiconductor equipment index by 9.1 percentage points, through August.
