The World Bank has approved a €500 million loan for Romania, eGov monitor reports. The three-year loan will be used to support the government of Romania’s Social Assistance Program, estimated at €5.5 billion. The program will involve Romania’s programs for low-income households and vulnerable groups, including the disabled, needy families, single parents and the rural poor. The share of overall social assistance funds for the poorest quintile is anticipated to increase to at least 45% in 2014 from 37.7% in 2009.
