Maryland state employees will start contributing more to their pension plans form July 1, Pensions & Investments reports. The contribution rate will increase to 7% from 5% and affect most state employees. The contribution rate for state police and correctional officers will not change, while the rate for enforcement officers from other departments will increase to 6%. The move has been taken to increase the system’s funding ratio to 80% by 2023, from 64% currently.
