Joshua Tanja & team UBS

UBS’s Joshua Tanja captains his team of eight — he and four others in Jakarta, three in Singapore — to a second straight visit to the second tier. The analysts boosted coverage over the past year or so by 20 stocks, for a total of 56, and through their research “leave no stone unturned,” attests one backer. Companies newly followed include Media Nusantara Citra; the analysts initiated coverage in March 2011 with a buy rating, at 918 rupiahs, largely on MNC’s ability to sustain advertising rate increases. Through March 2012 shares of the Jakarta-based pay-TV broadcaster had more than doubled, to Rp1,880, and the team continues to recommend it as a bottom-up growth story with strong momentum. — Ben Mattlin
