Céline Fornaro & team, BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research

The buy side says: “Céline gets both the big picture and the company specifics.”

The BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research duo directed by Céline Fornaro rockets from runner-up to finish in first place for the first time, thanks in part to what one client considers a “very good call” on European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co., an aircraft manufacturer headquartered in the Netherlands. Throughout last year the London-based analysts, who follow a dozen companies, maintained a buy rating on EADS, citing its rigorous orders momentum and rising market share. The stock soared 38.5 percent in 2011. Fornaro, 35, joined Merrill in December 2004 from a sales position at Embraer, the Brazilian commercial-aircraft manufacturer, after earning a master’s degree in air transport management at Britain’s Cranfield University and an aeronautical engineering degree at France’s Ecole Nationale de l’Aviation Civile.
