| Douglas Anmuth moved from Barclays to J.P. Morgan in March 2011. He didn’t rank last year but rejoins the team this year in third place — his best showing to date, having previously captured a runner-up spot every year from 2005 through 2010. Anmuth is a “very approachable” analyst, according to one client, while another praises him for “consistently demonstrating the ability to tie together the impact of broad industry trends with individual company dynamics.” The researcher steered investors to Google in July 2011, at $538.26, anticipating growing demand for the services of the Mountain View, California–based search engine and web analytics provider. The stock had zipped to $685.09 by late August 2012, for a gain of 27.3 percent. “We remain positive on the Internet sector in the second half, as we expect continued strong top-line growth driven by secular tailwinds and strengthening trends around social, local and video [media],” he says.
