Satya Kumar

In third place is Satya Kumar, who spent the past three years in the runner-up position — a spot he also claims this year in Alternative Energy. Described as “remarkably consistent” by one money manager, the Credit Suisse analyst is bullish: “We believe that there are strong industry-specific positives — higher unit growth, rising capital intensity, increased downstream fragmentation — that will help the sector, offset by prevailing macro conditions,” says Kumar, who works out of San Francisco. He urged clients to buy Cymer in April, at $48.50, on growing demand for the San Diego–based manufacturer’s light sources for photolithography tools. The stock advanced 16.9 percent, to $56.70, through August.
