Geneva-based Celine Pannuti helms the J.P. Morgan Cazenove team of three that advances to third place after four years at runner-up. She also guides a squad that merits a runner-up position in Food Producers. Pannuti’s teammates in covering this sector work out of London and report on seven companies. They are optimistic about this group, which gained 27.7 percent last year, eclipsing the broad market by 9.6 percentage points. However, Pannuti does issue a word of caution. “As we look into 2014, we would focus on self-help stories,” she says, “as we believe the market may discriminate more than in 2013.” Among her crew’s favorite names is Svenska Cellulosa, a Swedish paper and personal care products company that the researchers believe will benefit from “strategic disposals in 2012,” Pannuti notes. Moreover, SCA has the “potential to develop its portfolio outside Europe,” she adds, is the cheapest stock in the team’s universe and likely will reap advantage from its ownership of vast forest land in its home country.
