Up one notch to third place is UBS’s Sumito Takeda, who also garners a runner-up position this year in Software/Business. This analyst “has very detailed knowledge of the sector and readily shares it,” one advocate offers. Takeda monitors 19 companies and maintains a neutral position on Japanese entertainment software names. “The native game market will continue to expand in 2014,” he believes, “but competition will be more severe than that in 2013.” Takeda’s current top pick, Gree, is ready to enter that fray. A global mobile-social-media operator, Tokyo-based Gree “finally finished preparing for the native game market,” he notes. “Now we can expect they will get market share from current top players such as GungHo [Online Entertainment], Colopl and others.”
