Team debut: 2008 Unranked in 2013, J.P. Morgan’s Andrea Teixeira captures third place in this sector, which is newly split off from the former Consumer Goods category, and earns a runner-up position in Health Care. She is based in New York and reports on ten Brazilian retailers. Teixeira, whom one money manager dubs “a fantastic analyst,” is urging investors to take a defensive position on this sector. “We do not forecast major improvements for the second half, even after the World Cup noise fades,” she advises. “Higher interest rates and tough comparisons should hinder sales of most durables, although government-subsidized credit should support the sales of electronics and home appliances.” Citing a decline in discretionary demand, Teixeira downgraded São Paulo–based Natura Cosméticos from overweight to neutral in July 2013. A year later the shares were off by 20.6 percent, trading at 35.33 at the end of July 2014, while the sector gained 5.5 percent.
