| | Renata Faber | | Itaú BBA | | First-place appearances: 1 Total appearances: 4 Analyst debut: 2010 | Renata Faber rockets from runner-up to claim her first appearance in the winner’s circle; the Itaú BBA analyst also ranks third in Transportation. “Her analyses are clear and straight to the point, rooted in solid fundamentals,” attests one buy-side supporter. Faber, who works out of São Paulo, downgraded Autometal from outperform to market perform in February, at 21.75 reais, largely on disappointing quarterly results from soft domestic sales. By mid-July shares of the Diadema-based auto-parts maker had dropped 19.3 percent, to 17.55 reais — 8 percentage points worse than the broad market over the same period. The 33-year-old stands by the call, with a year-end target price of 23.50 reais on Autometal’s shares. Faber covered small-cap companies at São Paulo–based brokerage Fator Corretora before moving to Itaú in 2005. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration at that city’s Fundação Getulio Vargas. — Ben Mattlin |
