It’s five straight years on top for the five-member Morgan Stanley team led by Hong Kong–based Bin Li. The analysts cover 43 health care and pharmaceuticals stocks, and at the moment are urging clients to favor names in the traditional Chinese medicine segment — because they face less pressure to cut prices than their global peers, the team leader notes — and pharmaceuticals companies heavily involved in research and development. “Companies with strong R&D capability can produce drugs with differentiated profiles and thus fare better than others amid the price cuts and competition,” he explains. According to one portfolio manager, “Bin is the best Chinese health care analyst, owing to his originality in investment research and his independent thinking.” — Katie Gilbert
