Jody Santiago & team
UBS
UBS, which slipped to No. 3 last year, captures second place for the fourth time in five years. Manila-based Jody Santiago pilots the five-member group, which tracks 38 companies. In September the analysts reiterated their buy rating on Alliance Global Group, at 12.50 pesos, largely on high earnings expectations for its distillery, which posted strong volume sales and market share gains. (They rated the stock a valuation buy in February 2011, at 11.38 pesos.) Shares of the Quezon City–based holding company — with operations in the food and beverage industries, real estate development and restaurant management — skyrocketed 89.6 percent from the reiteration through April, reaching 23.70 pesos, and trumped the Philippine Stock Exchange’s PSEi Index by 51.5 percentage points. “Jody always makes us money,” attests one Hong Kong fund manager. — Ben Mattlin
