They initiated coverage on Japfa Comfeed Indonesia in August with a buy, at 870 rupiah, largely on rising poultry consumption. Shares of the Jakarta-based animal-feed supplier skyrocketed 121.8 percent, to Rp1,930, and soared past Indonesia’s broad market by 100.6 percentage points, through April. The group downgraded Astra Agro Lestari from neutral to sell in July, at Rp23,232.21, on rising labor and production costs, among other considerations. By the end of April, the Jakarta-based plantation operator’s stock had plunged 23.8 percent, to Rp17,700. “They make excellent stock calls,” cheers one grateful investor.— Ben Mattlin
