Victor Schabbel, who debuted in first place last year, returns in the same spot. The Credit Suisse analyst “is very accessible, patient and calm — he is a good listener and has a very down-to-earth attitude,” observes one buy-side supporter. Covering six stocks from his office in São Paulo, with plans to raise that total to nine by next year, the 28-year-old has an outperform rating on Cetip, an over-the-counter derivatives clearing company headquartered in Rio de Janeiro. “Volumes should improve and, coupled with a financial deleveraging process, earnings growth could range between 25 and 30 percent,” he contends. “With lower financial expenses, there is room for the company to distribute more dividends, increasing the current modest 2 percent dividend yield to 6 percent by 2015.” Clients are impressed. “His superior knowledge about the companies he covers allows him to look from above and combine a mid- to long-term view with a short-term perception of the opportunities available in the market,” applauds another backer. — Leslie Kramer
