The analyst, who covers 16 stocks, is known for providing “well-balanced investment advice,” as one Tokyo-based fund manager puts it. At the moment, that advice is to “keep an eye on cyclical factors, including capital expenditures,” says Mizutani, 54. In February 2012 he upgraded Comsys Holdings Corp. from neutral to outperform, at ¥828, largely on rising orders from telecommunications services providers that have been expanding their wireless networks. By mid-March 2013 shares of the Tokyo-based builder of telecom and electrical facilities had sizzled to ¥1,174, for a gain of 41.8 percent that bested the sector by 23.7 percentage points, and they remain a favorite. “Investors don’t yet fully recognize the potential benefits from the company’s internal structural changes, such as efforts to control costs,” he explains. — Ben Mattlin |
