| Rodney Whitehead & team | | Deutsche Bank | | "They are a strong team with deep analysis and excellent stock calls." | Deutsche Bank extends its winning streak to a fourth straight year. Rodney Whitehead, 53, directs the three-member, London-based team, which receives support from country specialists in Frankfurt, Milan and Stockholm. The analysts, who follow 18 companies, are “moderately positive” on the sector, Whitehead says, even after its strong performance last year. (The sector advanced 24.3 percent in 2012 and bested the broad market by 12.5 percentage points.) “We expect earnings growth of 13 percent for the U.K. retailers, ahead of market growth,” he asserts. “Given that the sector is still heavily shorted, we expect a number of stocks to perform well.” Examples include Carphone Warehouse Group, an independent mobile technology retailer headquartered in the U.K., and Switzerland’s Dufry, which operates duty-free shops in airports around the world. — Katie Gilbert |
