At No. 1 for a second year running is the Morgan Stanley duo overseen by Nikolaj Lippmann, who has directed coverage since 2011; the Mexico City–based leader also guides a runner-up team in Cement & Construction. The analysts cover ten stocks — mainly in the cement, industrial and real estate sectors — and have a mixed outlook. They advise caution on state-owned companies (which account for roughly 60 percent of Mexico’s stock market) but are bullish on entities likely to benefit from recently implemented fiscal reforms. Examples include such Monterrey-based outfits as Alpek, a petrochemicals producer; Cemex, a supplier of building materials and concrete; and Grupo Financiero Banorte, a diversified financial services firm.
