Viccenzo Paternostro of Credit Suisse debuts in third place. He took charge of the sector in June 2012 and hit the ground running, launching coverage on Klabin that month with an outperform rating, at 8.59 reais, citing the São Paulo–based pulp producer’s exposure to rising domestic consumption — through its packaging paper — and management’s expansion plans, among other considerations. The stock surged to 14.53 reais in April before reversing course and settling to 10.95 reais in mid-July. The shares’ 27.5 percent gain outpaced the broad market by 36 percentage points. “His coverage is methodical and deep,” observes one buy-side supporter.
