Kyoichiro Shigemura of Nomura Securities Co. claims third place for a second year running. With an eye toward the aging population, he currently recommends Okayama-based Message Co., a provider of long-term at-home care and operator of nursing home facilities for senior citizens, noting also the increased occupancy rates and its new assisted-living apartments. “Shigemura is reliable, especially with his expert knowledge of the health care industry,” declares one fund manager in Tokyo. Though his ratings universe numbers just 31, Shigemura monitors another 60 stocks and plans to “enhance my coverage area to include more manufacturing companies,” he says. — Ben Mattlin
