Total appearances: 9

Team debut: 2003

Antonio Junqueira, who was named captain of the BTG Pactual trio last year, guides the Rio de Janeiro–based crew up one rung to finish on top for the first time. Junqueira, 30, “goes straight to the point and is not shy to give his opinion, even in times of uncertainty,” declares one wealth manager in São Paulo. With 20 stocks under coverage, including the recent addition of several companies in Chile, the analysts astutely dubbed Cía. de Saneamento Básico do Estado de São Paulo, or Sabesp, a top pick in January 2012, at a split-adjusted 4.85 reais, because of favorable new sanitation regulations. Shares of the Brazil-based water treatment and distribution utility gushed to 22.32 reais in mid-July 2013, for an eye-popping 360.2 percent gain. During the same period the sector fell 20.6 percent. Junqueira, who holds an MBA from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro, worked as a credit analyst at Banco Modal before moving to UBS in 2005 to cover telecommunications companies; BTG Investments acquired UBS Pactual in 2009. — Ben Mattlin
