Sameer Baisiwala of Morgan Stanley captures second place for a third year running. The analyst “has good knowledge of the sector and companies,” according to one portfolio manager. “And his annual Indian pharmaceuticals trip is quite useful.” Baisiwala is recommending that investors seek out companies that distinguish themselves by focusing on “chronic ailments, complex technologies, the U.S. and faster-growing emerging markets.” Large-cap names should also be favored, he notes, as well as those that are enjoying growth momentum in the domestic market and can demonstrate strong balance sheet performance.
